Gekkoju Kurokawa

Kurokawa Onsen

Japan’s famous spa area Kurokawa Onsen where Japanese nature
and the finest hospitality can be fully appreciated

Even in Japan which is blessed with countless spa areas, Kurokawa Onsen is known as one of its most popular. Nestled in a mountain valley, and home to a little over twenty pure-Japanese-style inns, it was highly commended in the 2009 edition of the Michelin Green Guide Japan. Gekkoju is a very special Japanese inn with just eight rooms set extravagantly in an area of 14,850 square meters (more than 3.5 acres). The views from the rooms, comfort, food, hot springs—all are provided with sincerest hospitality. Enjoy a peaceful, enriching time here with someone special.

Hot Springs

Enjoy an open-air bath cradled in the mountains of Japan under
a star-filled night sky

Every room at Gekkoju has inside and open-air baths each fed by a plentiful free-flowing hot spring directly from source. A mountain-top open-air bath that looks out over a 360-degree view is also available within the grounds for exclusive reservation. Fully appreciate the healing experience of perfectly clear morning air, a cloudlessly-clear daytime sky, or the moon and stars at night, with someone special.

Hot spring water quality: mildly alkaline simple hot springs, with water flowing directly from source
Beneficial effects of bathing can include: relief from neuralgia, muscle soreness, painful joints, frozen shoulder, motor paralysis, stiff joints, bruises, sprains, hemorrhoids, chronic digestive diseases, sensitivity to cold, and fatigue, as well as promotion of health and support in recovery during convalescence.
